CommCorp’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

As a Leader in Workforce Development, CommCorp Is Committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)

We strive to center DEIB in every facet of our work. This commitment requires us to identify and dismantle historical and existing barriers within systems, policies, and practices to create long-term economic opportunities and access for all.

Diversity

Diversity refers to the range of human differences, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, neurodiversity, religious identity, genetic information, and political beliefs. We recognize that diversity in lived experiences drives diversity in thought, ideas, and perspectives.

Equity

The distribution of appropriate resources, which may vary based on the situation, enables people to achieve equal results. This differs from equality, which emphasizes equal distribution of resources regardless of need.

Inclusion

The sharing of access to resources, information, privilege, power, and decision-making within an organization.

Belonging

The feeling individuals experience when they are accepted in a family, community, or organization as their authentic selves.

We Put People First.

This means:

  • We are part of a larger community working to close equity gaps and drive the changes necessary for a thriving, diverse, and inclusive workforce.

  • We will explicitly focus our attention on individuals and organizations, emphasizing the removal of barriers for those historically excluded from access to resources and power, including but not limited to Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC), women, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with visible or invisible disabilities, veterans, immigrants, returning citizens, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learners.

  • We will develop effective programs and build collaborative partnerships that empower and strengthen the communities we serve.

  • We welcome diverse experiences, ideas, and perspectives to make our workplace more inclusive, productive, and representative of the communities we serve.

We Share the Work.

CommCorp staff integrate actions and behaviors into their work that reflect the commitment to DEIB.  We engage in professional development and learning opportunities to better understand the communities we serve and the obstacles they face.  We partner with organizations and agencies who aim to improve access to training, employment, and other resources to amplify the effort.

In 2023, the Social Justice & Equity Committee (SJE) transitioned to the DEI Advisory Council (DEIAC). The DEIAC is a volunteer, employee-led group that advises the DEIB Director on strategy related to DEIB efforts, identifies organizational barriers related to DEIB, and champions DEIB across the organization through role modeling and advocacy.
