Funded through the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund
Overview
To maintain a competitive and sustainable economy, Massachusetts must continue to invest in a skilled and well-trained workforce. Senator Kenneth J. Donnelly Grants give workers and companies the opportunity to gain access to occupations critical to the future economic success of the Commonwealth.
Donnelly Workforce Success Grants serve people across Massachusetts whose life experiences and circumstances make it difficult for them to succeed in employment without targeted support. In 2018, the Massachusetts Legislature voted to rename grant awards from the WCTF in memory of the late Senator Kenneth J. Donnelly, who was a steadfast champion of promoting workforce opportunities for people who might otherwise lack a pathway to economic stability.
Donnelly Grants support unemployed and underemployed individuals as well as incumbent workers. Grants of up to $500,000 are available to nonprofit and for-profit organizations, including, but not limited to:
- Community-based organizations
- Massachusetts employers and employer associations
- Higher education institutions
- Labor organizations
Contracts are set for two or three years with funds disbursed on a cost reimbursement basis. Awardees will be required to provide a 30% match of the total awarded funds. Organizations must have a minimum of two employer partners.
